Why we love Crema di Caffe:
More than just a drink, this iced coffee recipe is practically an indulgent grown up ice cream! perfect as a mid afternoon pick-me-up or post dinner party delight, once you've tasted it you'll be wanting more! The rich, creamy texture combined with the robust flavour of Italian espresso makes it the perfect summer indulgence. It’s light, refreshing, and incredibly satisfying on a hot day. Plus, it's a delightful way to enjoy your coffee in a new form.
Ingredients:
2 cups of double cream
4 tablespoons of icing sugar
1 cup of freshly brewed espresso (chilled)
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Ice cubes
Instructions, How to Make Crema di Caffè:
1. Brew the espresso
Start by brewing a strong cup of espresso. Once brewed, allow it to cool completely. For a quicker cooling process, place the espresso in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes.
2. Prepare the cream mixture
In a mixing bowl, combine the double cream, icing sugar, and vanilla extract. Use an electric mixer to whip the mixture until it forms soft peaks. This should take about 3-4 minutes on medium-high speed.
3. Blend the coffee and cream
Once your espresso is chilled, gradually pour it into the whipped cream mixture. Gently fold the espresso into the cream until well combined.
4. Chill the mixture
In the cafe, this is the part where we transfer our mixture into our coffee blending machine but at home, you can just place the blended coffee cream mixture into the fridge for at least 30 minutes. This will help the flavours blend together and create a smooth texture.
5. Serve and enjoy
Fill your glass with ice cubes (optional) and pour the chilled coffee cream over the ice. For an extra touch, you can top it with a sprinkle of cocoa powder or a shaving of dark chocolate.
Enjoy your homemade Crema di Caffe, just like at Delizia!
Tips for the perfect Crema di Caffe:
Quality espresso: Use high-quality espresso for the best flavour.
Chill thoroughly: Ensure your espresso is completely chilled before mixing with the cream to avoid curdling.
Serving suggestion: Serve immediately for the freshest taste, or keep the mixture chilled in the fridge for up to a day (great for dinner parties!).
We hope you enjoy making and sipping on your own Crema di Caffe at home. It's a simple yet luxurious treat that brings the taste of Delizia Italian Deli and Cafe right to your kitchen.
Buon appetito!
